It was in Suleymania, Iraq, in the 1920s that the grandfather, Mr. Haji Mohammed Kolak, founded the Kolak Group in the wholesale food trading and real estate sectors.

Four decades later, in the 1960s, his son, Mr. Haj Faeq Kolak, took the helm of the business as a reputed flour merchant—a “Matahen”—and elevated it to new heights. He broadened the wholesale food trading division, expanded real estate investments, and introduced a new department focused on the animal feed business.

In 2003, the company entered a period of remarkable and rapid growth under the leadership of the grandson, Mr. Saad Faeq Kolak—a natural leader with an exceptional vision. He transformed the business into a globally recognized enterprise by diversifying it across multiple sectors and industries, including flour mills, pharmaceuticals, can and packaging factories, glass factories, cement plants, power generation facilities, and extensive real estate investments.
